While they retain classic metalcore elements familiar to fans of KILLSWITCH ENGAGE and AS I LAY DYING, or international peers like ARCHITECTS UK and NORTHLANE, the six-piece California band isn’t afraid to venture beyond the expected.
Before even stepping into a studio, the early version of Kingdom of Giants was already hitting the road. Their debut, Ground Culture (2014), marked their first significant entry into the scene, followed by All the Hell You’ve Got to Spare (2017). Both albums quickly gained attention in the underground press for their intense emotional depth. The band tackles challenging subjects in their music, offering a dark and heavy sound that’s driven by an underlying sense of optimism and purpose.
Their fourth record, Passenger, is a masterful mix of modern metal and melodic hardcore, with influences from pop and hip-hop woven into the mix. It’s a blend that’s neither confused nor incoherent. Adding to the excitement, Kingdom of Giants infuses their 12-track album with elements of 80s-inspired synthwave and chillwave, reminiscent of retrofuturistic acts like THE MIDNIGHT.
