After her London adventure, she sauntered back to Toronto in 2012 and assembled her dazzling psychedelic backing band, The Good People—described by Tess as “sexy and talented musicians” (and who are we to argue?).
In early 2013, Tess dropped her EP Work All Day/Up All Night, which became a fan favorite. Her tunes are what she calls "lo-fi alternative drones with a hypnotic vibe," influenced by Elliott Smith, her pals the Dandy Warhols, and the timeless legends like Bob Dylan, Nirvana, The Beatles, Rolling Stones, and Zeppelin.
Tess also had a lucky break meeting Alan McGee in London. “We stayed in touch, that was it really,” she says. “I just got so lucky. I’m a huge fan of Oasis, Jesus and Mary Chain, My Bloody Valentine... and he’s connected to all of them.” She recorded her album of gritty, downbeat psychedelia (imagine Mazzy Star and The Brian Jonestown Massacre having a jam session) over the summer. The album’s lead single, “Somedays,” is already causing a stir. Grab this gold vinyl before it’s gone and get ready to dive into Tess’s groovy world!
