Vocalist/guitarist J. Mascis sounds somewhat brighter and more emotional than in recent times, and his guitar work is as stellar and incendiary as ever. All in all, 'Farm' sees Dinosaur Jr. continuing to rock out inventively and satisfyingly.
Dinosaur (later to be renamed Dinosaur Jr.) recorded their debut album in 1985 for $500 at a home studio in the woods outside Northampton, Massachusetts. On the strength of that album, they begin to play shows down south in NYC. There they met Sonic Youth
'Where You Been', Dinosaur Jr.'s fifth record, continued the band's global ascent. Collected together here on vinyl for the first time are related singles, B-sides & John Peel session recordings, as well as in-depth sleeve notes from Mojo's Keith Cameron.
